In the spring of 2001 we decided to record a demo for obvious, or
not so obvious reasons. We decided to utilize Jason's 8 track mini-disc recorder.
We recorded these songs in Jason and Melanie's basement. These are recorded as live
as possible and we had a blast. This experience has helped us to prepare for
an upcoming project - our first CD.
We have placed examples to share with you but remember - live, basement, 8-track...
Also you will find 2 live original songs. Enjoy.

These are in MP3 format.

All Night Long
(R. Gustaitis)

I wrote this about 10 or so years ago song while still living in Ohio. I had just joined Stillwater and one night there was this lull at practice and I started to play this song. It was originally written as a rock song and I actually hated it but everyone else seemed to like it so we worked up an arrangement and it has become one of our favorite songs to play.......and I guess.......have come to terms with it.    Lead Vocal : Rick
This Ain't Love
(R. Gustaitis, J. Bodenhamer)
This song was also written in Ohio. It is about a relationship gone bad.....you know,  fodder for bluegrass. I originally wrote this as a rock ballad and actually like this one (see above). I wasn't happy with the chorus and so Jason helped me with that. This song features the wonderful voice of our bass player.    Lead Vocal : Melanie

Storm
( J. Bodenhamer, R. Gustaitis)
This is a song that Jason brought to the table. It speaks about much of what is important to us all......a home. The song starts off with the haunting dobro foretelling of  an impending storm. The song quickly changes gears and becomes  fast tempo to the end. This is another fun song to play and may just be the first song on our CD.   Lead Vocal : Jason

Louisville Slugger
(R. Gustaitis, J. Dime)

I wrote this song with my very good buddy from Ohio. Jim is such a prolific songwriter. He tells the story that one day he was coming home from work and witnessed this guy beating up a Pinto (go ask your mother what a Pinto was) with a baseball bat. In the car sat this guy.....and a lady.....could it be??? Well, Jim presented most of the lyrics to me and I went to work. We embellished it a bit (OK a lot) and we made it into a G - rated song and brought in the dad - son theme. Hope you like it.  Lead Vocal : Rick

Up On The Mountain (live)
(R. Gustaitis)

I spent an afternoon one day listening to Tim O'Brien, who is one of my favorite songwriters. I can't seem to get enough of his singing and playing no matter what the vehicle. Well, this song has nothing to do with him except he just really inspired me and influenced the moment.      Lead Vocal : Rick

Living All Alone With The Blues
(R. Gustaitis) (live)

This is another song that was influenced somewhat by a heavy listening dose of Mr. O'Brien and Del McCoury.    Lead Vocal : David George
